| At the End of My Dayby April Ball I get up fairly early in the morning. My day starts at 5:45 a.m. I wake up next to my husband of three years who gets to sleep a whole three hours later than I do. I give him a quick kiss before I slip away to take a shower. Once I’m done with that, I get my appearance ready to go. Nice outfit. Curly hair. Decent looking make-up. Once I’m finished making me look presentable, I glance one more time at Brian before leaving our bedroom.br
I locate to our kitchen to find myself something to eat before my busy day starts. Cereal it is. Mini wheats at that. I quickly eat and put my dishes in the sink. I know that Brian loves me, so they will be washed by the time I get home. I head over to our table and start to pack up my things. I quickly put everything into my bag. I snap it shut, pick it up, and start for the door. On my way there, I grab my keys off of the kitchen counter and finish my walk to the door. I quickly lock it behind me and walk to my blue 2004 Dodge Neon.br
I start the engine and pull out of our driveway. 7:00 a.m. I’m making good time. I pull into the parking lot of the high school where I am an Italian teacher and a swim coach. I park and make my way into the building.br
“Buon giorno, Payton,” Daniel Evans, another Italian teacher says to me.br
“Buon giorno, Daniel,” I answer as I pass him.br
I go to my room and put my things on my desk. As I do, I have one of my students walk in. I am an Honors Italian 4 teacher so nothing but Italian was to be spoken in my room.br
“Buon giorno, Mrs. Ryan,” Parker said to me.br
“Buon giorno, Parker,” I told him. “Che posso fare per lei?”br
“I compiti?” He asked.br
“Le pagine 78-79, Interroga 3-30,” I told him.br
“Grazie,” he said, turning to walk out of the room.br
“Lei è benvenuto,” I answered.br
He left the room. I shook my head. I love being a high school teacher. The kids always crack me up. Maybe it’s because I’m only about four years older than they are. I am the youngest teacher they have there. I get along fine with the kids.br
School starts and I teach my first period class.br
“Buon giorno, Classe,” I say to them.br
“Buon giorno,” They answer back.br
“Aprire i suoi libri e riesaminare con un partner per i metà trimestre. Voglio vedere tutta la venuta da questa classe. Voi tutti sentono?” I told them.br
I heard a bunch of groans come from the class.br
“Cessare il suo lamentare. Farebbe lei piuttosto la tengo una conferenza?” I ask them.br
“NO!!” They all scream.br
“Ciò è che ho pensato. Adesso studiare,” I tell them.br
I sit back and relax. Midterms make my job easy. The kids just go to it and I get to watch them. The rest of my day is a breeze and at 2:45, my last student leaves the room. I then pack up everything that I need for the night at home. I grab my bag for swimming and head out the door. I drive myself to the YMCA. When I get there, I already have kids in the pool. They’re all pretty dedicated kids.br
“Hey, Y’all,” I say.br
“What’s up, Coach?” Rhyon Adams asks me.br
“Swim a 200 and then I’ll let you know,” I tell him, winking.br
He sighs.br
“Every time,” I hear him mutter.br
He starts swimming off.br
“Follow him,” I tell the rest of the team.br
I watch them all swim and realize that I have a good team this year. I work them hard for about three hours before I let them do a cool down.br
“Alright!” I yell. “Cool down!”br
They run about a ten minute cool down and then I let them go.br
“Alright, Guys,” I say. “Good practice.”br
By now, its 6:30 and I’m so ready to go home. I run by the Chinese restaurant and grab food for Brian and I and then, I head home to the man I love. When I get there, Brian is sitting on the couch watching a basketball game.br
“Hey, Baby,” I say seeing him.br
My heart does flip flops. I love him a little more each day. He smiles.br
“Ehi, Bello,” he says.br
Everything just sounds better in Italian.br
I smile.br
“Lei me ha mancato?” I ask him.br
“Troppo,” he answers.br
I smile and kiss him.br
I go upstairs and change my clothes. I came back down and snuggle up close to Brian.br
“What are we watching?” I ask.br
“Cavaliers vs. Spurs,” he answers.br
“Mmm…” I tell him. “Good game?”br
“It’s alright,” he answers.br
I snuggle closer to him.br
“At the end of the end of my day,” I tell him.” I’m glad I’m with you.”br
He smiles.br
“Me, too,” he answers.br
