Amore meets Love by Jennifer Minor Natalia had just moved from Italy, to the state of Michigan. Valentine’s Day was arriving and each year at Highmore Middle School is a Valentine’s dance. Of course she wanted to go but she hadn’t a date yet. Her two new friends Mallory and Sophie told her of some boys who were cute and still needed dates; however, Natalia was eager to have a guy ask her. She didn’t want to be the one to ask and besides she wasn’t too sure about the dance. Many things were extremely different already. Natalia decided that if she isn’t asked by the day of the dance, which was in three days, she wouldn’t go. The next day, Sophia, Mallory and Natalia were sitting at the lunch table. “Are you sure nobody has asked you yet?” Mallory said.br “Yes I am sure, why?” Natalia replied.br “Well I have heard that many boys think you are cute.”br “They are probably too shy to ask you.” Sophia added.br “I'm sure someone will ask eventually." Mallory said.br "I hope so." Natalia sighed.br It was the day of the dance and Natalia was at her locker getting ready for third period. Three more hours and the dance would begin. As she began to turn, Brody was standing there with a card. “This is for you,” he said with a smile. “But before you open it, I wanted to ask you something.”br “Ok.” Natalia said.br Brody paused nervously, “Are you going to the dance with anyone?”br “No, nobody has asked me.”br “Well, if you would like to be my date that would be cool.”br Natalia smiled. “Yes, I would really like that.”br “Really!? So, I can meet you by your 6th period class and we can walk there?” Brody asked.br “Yes definitely!” Natalia said excitedly.br Natalia and Brody then said goodbye as they walked to their next classes. Natalia was really excited and couldn’t stop thinking about the dance. She then remembered the card. She opened it and written in messy handwriting inside was "Will you be my Valentine", and in Italian "You are cute." Natalia giggled and thought to herself yes.br
