Oh Perfect Love!

by Paulanda Samuels

Oh Perfect Love!

Oh perfect love thou exists for me beyond space and time
Far past the naked eye can see
Your body is whole and the love encompasses my soul
Oh perfect love - the greatest story ever told.

Women sing your praises,
Men tell stories of youth changed by one little glance.
I am new to this trance,
My feet fumble through the dance.
Your patience makes time stand still
And my feeble moves turn to flowing waves of water -
seemingly warmed by the summer sun and fervent with laughter.

No pain in this sweetest refrain.
A harmonious melody contracting only the good notes
For mental pleasure beyond measure.

Oh perfect love, thou sees me without shadows and paint.
You see ME, whoever that may be.
A plain canvas, no intended shape,
but your translation of my soul fills volumes in dialects and
Languages rarely ever spoken or heard.
I again am in awe.
I wish I see what you saw.

Oh perfect love “teach me”, I have asked time and time again
And the answer is the same.

You aspire to be what your heart already knows.
I am only perfect because you believe you are not.
I exist when deficits and defeat infect your thoughts.
When you cease to believe in perfection as introspection and reflection
You will find O’ Perfect Love exists within thee so imperfectly,
Without pretense or walls,
Just for love’s sake – free for all!
