| THE CALLby Katherine WalkerTo My Best Friend:
A mutual friend called me up today between shattered tears and brokenness. He told me, as my friend, he was there for me through thick and thin always - just like you and me, Bev, and he told me to trust him and believe all the things he promised after we’d gotten to know one another for awhile. I told him I’d try to do my best and thanked him for the call.
He surprised me when he said that wasn’t good enough. Friends are there to help each other. It was an either/or situation. Either I did or I didn’t believe him.
Then, I buckled under the magnitude of it all. He told me he’d help me whenever I needed him and I should know that. Just give him a call and he’d be there in no time. He was never far away.
Then I asked him if he’d visit you today, too! He promised he would as soon as we hung up. I told him about your accident and how much you’ve been going through lately. I said you were having a really rough time and he said he understood. He’d been through a lot too; there wasn’t anything he hadn’t experienced one way or another.
As he spoke, my tears softened and I felt refreshed and renewed - kinda like when the sun comes out after a rainstorm. I was so glad he was, and is, our mutual friend, and I can’t wait to talk to him again, and he said he couldn’t wait to talk to me either.
We hung up our hearts in prayer and promised to love each other always no matter what. So, get ready to hear from our mutual Friend, our Lord and Savior, Jesus.
Always,
Kathy
